Beauty of London Fashion Week at Giles Deacon [12 COMMENTS]
 [10-3-2011]

Now it's no secret that Giles Deacon is a phenomenal designer, but who knew that he could take hiw collection to the next level this past season.  The clothes all inspired by swans, styled by Katie Grand, make up by Lucia Pieroni, and hair by Paul Hanlon really took Giles to the next level. The clothes stole the show, so the make up and hair took a back seat all the while still being beautiful! The make up is as easy for a pro to do as it is for you and I.

The cheeks were slightly flushed, the eyes completely make up less and the lips were stained like they had just drank a glass of red wine and stepped on the catwalk. This look is what we call perfect for spring but perfect for fall.  The best way to attain this awe inspiring look a la Doutzen Kroes, even out your complexion with By Terry's (new to Shen) VIP Expert.  Next take a little of By Terry's blush in Cheek to Cheek Rose and lightly dust the cheek bones.  Afterwards a little Anastasia clear brow gel and some Jemma Kidd Lip to Cheek Stain on the lips.  We always do a coupld of coats of the Lip to Cheek Stain to make it.....Just Right.  To finalize this look with a little glow for evening use RMS Beauty Living Lumiziner  on top of cheek bones, a touch underneath the brow and of course to highlight your wine stained lip, dap a little on the bow of your lip.  This will give the illusion of a sexy, pouty lip all the while being simple and utterly gorgeous!

For your hair, Paulo says just let it air dry if you feel a little frizz, use Rahua Finishing Treatment to touch up the frizzies and you should be on your way.  No brushing as this will make it fluffy and you want to look simple, beautiful and chic all at the same time.

Next up.....Milan for Prada Make Up and hair! Stay tuned

1920's Beauty Inspired by Boardwalk Empire [20 COMMENTS]
 [9-23-2011]

There's a new season of Boardwalk Empire premiering this Sunday on HBO, and we here at Shen are feeling inspired by 1920's beauty. The look of this period is very feminine and embraces women's independence and spunky attitude. The key beauty elements of the 1920's are dark red lips and dramatic kohl eyeliner. Hair was worn in soft curls and the bob was in style. Inspired by these elements, we have modernized this look for you and can be recreated in minutes.

To create modern bow-shaped lips apply a red lipstick to your lips and add a little concealer to the top of your lip to accentuate the natural M-shape of your lips. We recommend using Lipstick Queen in Rouge Sinner or Berry Sinner and RMS concealer to create this look.

Create irresistible eyes and make them impossible to ignore by lining the inner rims of your eyes with Jemma Kidd eyeliner in Zodiac. Next, sweep a black eyeshadow on your lids and blend upwards. Use Becca eyeshadow in Velvet to create a shimmer look, or Velour for a matte finish.

For your hair, use a small barrel curling iron to create soft ringlets. Use bobby pins that match your hair color to pin the curls that frame your face back. We suggest using the Shen Hair Essentials Set - full of bobby pins and clips to help you create this romantic and sweet look, perfect for a date night!

Out of Flip Flops & Into Heels [0 COMMENTS]
 [9-15-2011]

It's that time of year again! Summer is coming to an end and with that comes the time to ditch our favorite flip flops and put on those high heels. If you're like us, you love the way a nice pair of heels completes your outfit, but hate the aches and pains that come along after a long day of wearing them. Tired soles, cracked heels, and overworked calves are some of the complaints most of us have after a day of wearing heels. But rest assured, we have a few favorite items that will allow us to look great and send those pains packing!

If you've never used a leg spray to revive and refresh tired legs before, we suggest you invest in one right away. Kate Logan's Juniper leg spray is the perfect cooling spray to have around whenever you wear heels. Juniper is used to cool and revitalize the skin and Cypress helps to tone, ease puffiness, and sooth those tired legs. As soon as your legs need a boost, simply shake the bottle and spritz. Doing a lot of walking or standing during the day? No problem, put your bottle in the fridge, spray on your legs, and then prop your feet up for 10 minutes. Great for traveling on planes too.

Tired feet and overworked soles can be soothed instantly with Deborah Lippmann's Steppin' Out nourishing foot cream. With a combination of luxurious ingredients like acai and kokum butter, this intensely moisturizing cream will completely condition dry skin and relieve achy soles. Massage the cream onto your feet, put on the comfiest pair of socks you own, and feel your aches melt away.

Smooth and hydrate cracked heels with Suti's Fabulous organic foot balm. This UK based company uses a blend of eucalyptus and lemon to create a soothing and rehydrating formula which will penetrate even the toughest skin. Massage onto soles and heels using firm circular movements to stimulate circulation and bring relief to those dry heels.

There you have it! Now you will never have to dread putting on your favorite pair of heels again.
