Why Shen Loves It: Giardino Segreto is the fourth scent from Fornasetti Profumi is inspired by a dreamlike representation of an idealised Italian secret garden, flourishing with a rich tapestry of herbs and foliage, hidden follies and ‘mystical’ creatures.
Giardino Segreto embodies the green and fresh scent of cypress, ivy and cedar wood blended together with the dusty dry aroma of overgrown stone walls and balustrades. It has a verdant herbal scent; supported by notes of maquis and thyme entwined with the dryness of vetiver and cistus labdanum.
Barnaba Fornasetti has created an original Fornasetti design Giardino Segreto by combining three existing motifs from the archive in a new ‘dreamlike’ sequence.
The design combines ‘Balaustra’ (balustrade), ‘Civette’ (owls) and ‘Foglie’ (leaves) all of which stem from his father’s artistry and first appeared from the 50’s onwards; featuring across various objects from screens, cabinets and chests of drawers to trays, bookends and lamps.
